Description:

Ever been curious about Firefox technology, but afraid to get mired in rdf misery? XUL can also be used to create remote applications that look and behave like native XUL apps but use a web architecture on the back-end. This talk will walk through a case study in using remote XUL with PHP and the jQuery JavaScript library to build a simple database front-end. Remote XUL is a great way for web developers to experiment with the XUL toolkit without having to jump in with both feet.

Bio
Jeff Griffiths has been hacking with PHP for 8 years and thinks he just might be starting to get the hang of it. In his day job he is in charge of community support at ActiveState, including development of the Drupal-based commnity site ( support.activestate.com ). By night Jeff is either hacking PHP, active in the local electronic music scene, or rocking out to Guitar Hero 2.
