ComVu talks community

Kris and I went over to meet with the team at ComVu a couple of days ago. We first met them over in Torino, Italy, during the Winter Olympics (we've still got our 2010 Daily Vancouver site covering activities here). Kris had a mobile device using ComVu's Pocketcaster application, which allows for live streaming of video from a cellphone connection.

ComVu has some pretty interesting technology. Today it only works on Windows Mobile devices, but Series 60 support is coming soon (all the Bryght guys have Nokia Series 60 phones...except for Kris, who can't quite give up his Danger HipTop).

ComVu's next step is to sprinkle a little community juice around. They already have a personal video broadcast page for about a 1000 early beta testers, now they're going to bring those public and turn them into video blogs. They've already got Atom API-based "blog this" functionality, but they're going to beef that up a bit and allow you to push videos in an embedded player directly to your blog.

ComVu already has a custom built front end, so there's no play for Drupal running their website (but, who knows...Pocketcaster V2.0?). We talked about adding MetaWeblog API support so that your Bryght-based site can easily integrate with ComVu.

It's great to see companies like this in Vancouver (EQO being the other cool mobile tool). Tell us when the demos are ready!
